Bio
Fleur de Liz is Elizabeth (Lizzy) ‘Fleur’ Jankowski, the performance alias extrapolated from the obvious name connection, the inner world of Liz AKA Fleur de Liz. It has been her life long dream to set up Fleur de Liz…
Lizzy grew up in London and saw her misspent youth with the London punk and rave scene from Camden Town to White City. She found circus at 19 years old and began to work on the underground fringe subculture event scene throughout UK and Western Europe flitting between the ‘Burner’ and the Anarchist scenes.
She found these scenes at a central and formative time and in communities where freedom of creative and political expression was of high importance and art, in all it’s forms, was seen as a way to shape the future. Much of her work for the next 10 years integrated both political and artistic, creative and humanitarian. She trained to a professional level in aerial hoop and acrobatics and worked in production roles for international tours.
In more recent years Fleur has been enamoured with Shibari, another string to her bow. Acutely aware of the dystopia of quotidian times, she uses rope as a way to empower, to reclaim power, desires and essence, or, using embodiment practices, to create new paradigms we can experience through intention.
Aerial shibari, or suspension, for her, is pure presence, flow and trust that explore transformation, pleasure, pain and power while her performance movement practice has its foundation in archetypes and ancient mythologies.
